Backyard hops are coming up nicely. Wasn’t sure what would happen after they died last summer due to our ongoing drought conditions. Hops are pretty robust, usually we don’t even bother watering them much and it sure suprised me they dried up for the first time in 15 years.
The sad tale of the drought stricken hops. Here’s what happens when you have the hottest June on record, followed by the another hot and dry month here in July. Looks like there will be no hops this year. Wild because last year I got a bumper crop.
Here’s what these plants looked like last year:

Paradoxical Porter homebrew two weeks in the bottle. So far so good! Coming along nicely in terms of flavors blending and carbonation.

Homebrewing in the backyard to honor National Homebrew Day. Made Paradoxical Porter, an oldy but goody original recipe. Added smoked and roasted black patent and European chocolate rye malts for extra flavor…used the grill for that Oh, used the homegrown hops too. Also has a bit of brown sugar.
Exploding Beer Keg Kills Redhook Brewery Worker In Freak Accident
Actually have some Redhook in the fridge…will raise one for Ben.
Couple of brews we had at the Ale House at Amatos. Left, Patty’s Chili beer by Wynkoop and Wagon Ryed Stout, they were awesome! I also highly recommend the lamb burger!
